Buddhism is the practice of awareness. It is the path taken by those who want to gain wisdom.

So, it is only natural for Buddhism practitioners to be aware of the true quotes of the Buddha. Especially in today’s world where fake news is everywhere, followers of Buddha must be extra discerning.

From the very start, the Buddha is a proponent of radical honesty. That’s why he said:

“There is no evil that cannot be done by a person who deliberately lies.” – Buddha

Although those quotes mis-associated with Buddha are also uplifting, it still violates what he envisioned for his followers – to be enlightened.

So, here are verified quotes straight from the Buddhist canon:

“All tremble at violence; all fear death. Putting oneself in the place of another, one should not kill nor cause another to kill.” – The Buddha (Dhammapada, verse 129)
